The Seven Veils of the Soul: When Luna Descended with Inanna (Part 3)

The question echoed in Luna's mind, as haunting as the echo of demon footsteps following Inanna: "If you let me go, I will let anyone take my place whoever you please." A choice had to be made, a sacrifice made. Luna felt a familiar tension, the fear of loss, the difficulty of letting go of what one clings to.

She continued reading, the outcome approaching:

Then Inanna brought up Dumuzi, her beloved.

The seven demons fell upon him.

"It's him! Take him away!"

Inanna's decision, Dumuzi's choice... Luna felt a complex mixture of incomprehension and sadness. Love, passion... sometimes even the strongest bonds seemed subject to the implacable laws of the underworld.

A pause. Luna remembered a painful breakup, the feeling of being chosen, then abandoned. The complexity of relationships, the dynamics of power and sacrifice… the myth continued to resonate strangely with her own experience.

She picked up the book again, the last pages becoming lighter:

After Inanna came up from the underworld,

Joy fills hearts.

The gods rejoiced.

The earth exulted.

The ascent, the joy, the return to the light… Luna felt a wave of optimism wash over her. The descent was not an end, but a necessary step towards rebirth. Inanna's power, forged in the depths, was back.

Inanna was filled with new strength.

She carried within her the wisdom of the Underworld

And the power of the goddess of the sky.

She was Love, Sex and War.

These last words resonated with Luna. Integration. Not rejecting the dark parts, but embracing them to become more complete, stronger. Love and war, gentleness and strength, light and shadow… all these could coexist, enriching each other. She thought of her own "shadows" tamed, of her anger transformed into affirmation, of her vulnerability become a source of empathy.

The book remained open on her lap, the silence of the garden filled with a new resonance. The reading was over, but the inner journey continued. Luna felt different, more grounded, as if an ancient force had awakened within her. The myth of Inanna wasn't just a distant story; it was a mirror of her own journey, a map of her own unconscious.

She understood then that the descent into the shadows, this confrontation with Ereshkigal, had not been a destruction, but an initiation. By losing her seven insignia, Inanna had touched her rawest, most authentic essence. And by recovering them, she had reinvested them with a new power, enriched by knowledge of the depths.

In the same way, the shadow parts we encounter within ourselves are not there to destroy us. They are guardians of hidden treasures, sources of raw energy that, once integrated, can make us more whole, more powerful. The journey into the underworld of our own psyche can be frightening, but the ascent, the rebirth, carries with it the promise of new strength and wholeness.

The sun was gently setting, painting the garden in warm colors. Luna stood up, feeling a deeper connection with the cycle of nature, with its constant alternation of ebb and flow, of shadow and light. What if you, too, allowed yourself to recognize the echoes of this journey within you? Perhaps it is time, gently and courageously, to begin exploring the depths of your own being, for it is there, in the integration of all your parts, that your true power lies…
